Why AI floor plan generation still needs an architect
Floor Plan Studio's scheme generator can turn a brief into several ranked layout options in seconds — but it's a starting point, not a finished design. The generator optimizes for the objectives you give it (area efficiency, adjacency, compliance) and has no sense of a client's actual priorities, site context beyond what you enter, or structural feasibility beyond the checks we run.
In practice, the fastest workflow we've seen is: generate several schemes, pick the one closest to what you want, then spend your time refining it rather than starting from a blank canvas. The AI removes the blank-page problem; it doesn't remove the architect.
What our compliance checks actually check
Every plan in Floor Plan Studio is checked live against a ruleset covering byelaws (FAR, ground coverage, setbacks, minimum room areas, ventilation, parking), egress (reachability, exit width, travel distance) and accessibility (door widths, turning circles in wet rooms). These reference India's National Building Code 2016 and generic development control regulations.
We built this to catch obvious issues early, not to replace a licensed architect's or structural engineer's sign-off. Local byelaws vary by jurisdiction and change over time — always verify against your local authority's current regulations before submitting or constructing.
Why Render Studio is chat-driven, not slider-driven
Most rendering tools ask you to tune a dozen sliders and dropdowns before you get an image. We built Render Studio around a chat transcript instead: describe what you want changed — materials, lighting, mood — in plain language, and each message becomes a new render saved to the project.
